BEAUTY: Painting--Carole Brémaud

French painter, photographer, and sculptor Carole Brémaud's obscured-face portraits appeal to me. I have posted other artists who work on obscured-face portraits, like Nicola Samori. I can't help but think of Francis Bacon's many "Melting Popes" seen here and here. Obscuring the face obscures the most important part of a portrait, rendering the identity of the person moot. What emerges from this anonymity is a psychological profile, whether filled in by the artist or supplied by us, the viewer.
